This artwork celebrates the beauty and richness of our traditional cultures through the lens of water festivals across different communities. I wanted to capture not only the joy and charm of these celebrations but also the nostalgia for the past, when these traditions were deeply alive and shared with pride.

MON | SANGKRAN

Inspired by a beloved Mon tradition, where young men gently and respectfully asked permission to pour scented water over young women returning from monasteries, this painting revives the elegance of a cultural practice full of grace and affection.

BURMESE | THINGYAN

Drawing influence from the 1984 Mandalay Thingyan as depicted in the iconic film Thingyan Moe, this work reflects the grandeur of Myanmar’s water festival filled with music, dance, and timeless festivity.

ARAKANESE | THANGRAIN

This piece portrays the Rakhine water festival tradition, highlighting the vibrant scene of young women playfully applying sandalwood paste during Nantha Thwei Ni, a ritual of purity, beauty, and togetherness.

TAI/ SANGKEN

Inspired by the first Inle Lake water festival in Southern Shan State (2019), this section depicts lively boat processions, traditional dances, and colorful costumes—honoring the Inn Thar people’s joyful expression of community and heritage.

ဤပန်းချီကားသည် လူမျိုးစု (၄) စု၏ ရေကစားပွဲတော်များဟာ သူတို့၏မတူညီတဲ့ အခေါ်အဝေါ်များ၊ ရိုးရာယဉ်ကျေးမှုများ၊ အလှအပနှင့် ကြည်နူးစရာမြင်ကွင်းများကို ဖော်ပြလိုခြင်းဖြစ်သည်။ ဤပွဲတော်များ၏ ဝမ်းမြောက်ဖွယ်၊ ပျော်စရာကောင်းသည့် အလှအပနှင့် အတိတ်စဉ်တုန်းက ပြန်လည်တမ်းတ မျှဝေချင်သော ဂုဏ်ယူဖွယ်အခိုက်အတန့်များကို လွမ်းဆွတ်တမ်းတစွာ ပုံဖော်ပြချင်တာပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

ရှေးအခါက ဘုန်းကြီးကျောင်းမှ ဆွမ်းအပို့ပြန်လာသည့် အပျိုလေးတွေကို ကိုလူပျိုများက အမွှေးနံသာရည်ကိုသပြေခက်ဖြင့် ရေလောင်းရန် ယဉ်ကျေးစွာခွင့်ပန်သည့် ချစ်စရာမွန်ရိုးရာဓလေ့တစ်ခုကို ထင်ဟပ်ပေါ်လွင်အောင် ပြန်လည်ရေးဆွဲထားခြင်းဖြစ်တယ်။

သင်္ကြန်လို့ ကြားလိုက်တာနဲ့ နန်းဆန်ပြီး ဂန္တဝင်ဆန်မြို့တစ်မြို့လို့ဆိုတဲ့ မြို့မငွေငန်းအဖွဲ့သံစုံတီးဝိုင်း၊ ယိမ်းအကအလှတွေနှင့်အတူ (၁၉၈၄) ခုနှစ်က မန္တလေးသင်္ကြန်ကို နောက်ခံရိုက်ကူးထားတဲ့ "သင်္ကြန်မိုး" ရုပ်ရှင်ပိုစတာကို မှီငြမ်းရေးဆွဲထားတဲ့ ပုံဟာဆိုရင် သင်္ကြန်ကိုအမှတ်ရလွမ်းမိသွားစေမှာယုံကြည်တယ်။

တမူထူးခြားသည့် ရခိုင်ရိုးရာအတာသင်္ကြန်ပွဲတော်တွင် တွေ့မြင်ရတဲ့ ဘုရားရေသပ္ပါယ်ရန် နံ့သာဖြူ၊ နံ့သာနီများကို "နံ့သာသွီးနိ" နေ့တွင် ရခိုင်အမျိုးသမီးလှပျိုဖြူများက တပျော်တပါး စုပေါင်းသွေးနေကြဟန်ကို ပုံဖော်ရေးဆွဲထားတာပဲဖြစ်တယ်။

(၂၀၁၉) ခုနှစ်တုန်းက ရှမ်းပြည်နယ်တောင်ပိုင်းရဲ့ ပထမဆုံးအကြိမ်အင်းလေးရေပေါ်သင်္ကြန်ပွဲတော်ကြီးကို လှေသဗ္မာန်ဖောင်တွေနဲ့ရေကစားတာ၊ အင်းသူများရဲ့ ယိမ်းအကအလှတွေအပြင် ရှမ်းရိုးရာအကများနှင့် ရိုးရာဝတ်စုံများဝတ်ဆင်ကာ ရေသဘင်ပွဲတော်ကြီးကို စည်ကားသိုက်မြိုက်စွာ ဆင်နွှဲခဲ့တဲ့ပုံရိပ်များပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
